Greetings! I am delighted to be back home and preparing for our time together this week. I have missed our times together in God’s word. I am excited about our gathering this week as we have the amazing privilege to celebrate the most significant event of history. The death, burial, and resurrection of Christ is the center point of all history. Just as with Christmas, we tend to fly through the account of the cross believing we know all about the events. But I wonder if you have taken time to think through some of the statements Jesus made from the cross. One that has haunted me this week has been the statement in Matthew 27:46—Jesus cried out… “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” At our time this Friday we will attempt to gaze into the depths of this statement. We will find ourselves peering into the darkness and despair to feel the weight of what Jesus bore on Calvary. Then we will follow that up on Sunday as we celebrate the resurrection looking at Jesus’ final statement on the cross and what that implies for us today. I would encourage you to invite a friend, bring the family, and join the celebra- tion of our risen Savior. He alone is worthy to receive glory—forever!
