Subzero Blowing Snow Causes Cancellations

Living up here, we have come to expect this kind of weather. We’ve learned to take precautions.

The annual meeting planned for Monday night and the Tuesday and Wednesday ministries at SonRise were cancelled the week of Jan 20, 2014. We were forced to cancel the previous mid-week’s ministries as well, with on-and-off-back-on again blizzard conditions continuing over the past two weeks.

When will this madness end? Last week, the wind speed peaked at 43 miles per hour with temperatures plunging to negative 28. The wind chill brought us down into the negative 40 range. Next week, the temps drop again.

What keeps us winter veterans from despair? The writer of Ecclesiastes most likely did not have the upper Red River Valley subzero temps in mind when God inspired him to write about the seasons. But the principle remains that God is sovereign and good and there is an appointed time for every event ( and temperature) under heaven.

The people of SonRise will look to warmer days. Until then, call ahead before you venture out to attend a service or ministry event.
