Last week we laid out a course bearing for the year. We tied it to 5 commitments that deal with our spiritual growth as followers of Jesus. We begin this journey this week and will continue throughout the month of January focusing on knees that bend in prayer. We will spend our time looking at what Jesus had to say to his followers about prayer, specifically focusing much time on what is tradi-tionally known as the Lord’s Prayer. Dr. David Jeremiah quotes from Oswald Chambers when he reminds us of our struggle:
“…We tend to use prayer as a last resort, but Jesus wants it to be our first line of defense. We pray when there’s nothing else we can do, but Jesus wants us to pray before we do anything at all.” (Prayer—The Great Ad-venture, page 13).
We will explore the question Why pray? this week. I hope and pray that you will be able to join us and find encouragement, challenge, and opportunities to grow in this discipline of prayer. Lord, teach us to pray…
