Christmas. It is that time of year that evokes so many emotions. Children can hardly con- tain themselves as they wait in anticipation of Christmas morning. Some adults get wrapped up in the excitement as well, planning and searching for the best deals on the “perfect gift” for their loved ones. The decorating of the tree and house brings joy to some and frustration to others. For still others, it is a time of great sadness because of the loss of someone close. In the mix of all these emotions, our culture projects an image and attitude of discontent. The message that is conveyed is that you need more stuff to be happy and content. This year we are going to help reshape and refocus our lives on what is truly important. I hope that you can join us this week as we begin to turn Christmas upside down by simplifying Christmas in our worship.
