What an amazing journey we have been on these last nine months. We will gather this week and conclude our study of The Story. God is concerned with rescuing sinners from the penalty of their sin and then releasing those same people to display the glory of his grace in their culture. The means by which this is accomplished is a work of God. It is accomplished by his mercy and grace through the atoning work of Jesus on the cross. Jesus humbly came that first time. He was born in a manger and endured shame and death to rescue us. Having ascended to heaven, he commissioned the church to continue the mission. But on the day he ascended back to heaven the angels told the disciples, “This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:11 ESV). What will that day look like? What will be taking place? Why will he return? We will try to answer some of these questions and how we should live in light of these truths. Our journey concludes in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. I hope that you can join us this week. We will see the King revealed and coming in glory. With great expectation we pray with John, “Come, Lord Jesus.”
