A Note from Pastor Dave

Do you ever feel that things are hopeless? As I write this, the headlines are full of brokenness and depravity—a captain who claims to have fallen off his sunken ship, a mother challenging a school for giving away a Bible, murders, security risks, and government miscues. It does not take us long to see that our world, nation, and culture are in trouble. If we have the courage to look closely at our lives, we will find that our hearts are so prone to leaving this God we claim to love. With all this brokenness, sadness, and hopelessness we may begin to wonder if there is any hope. As we engage in God’s story this week, we desire to encourage you that there is hope. In The Story, Israel (the northern tribes) is history, and God is ready to send Judah into exile. God’s prophets have announced doom and gloom. Yet in the midst of this God offers a spark— a ray of sunshine. Isaiah has spoken of a suffering servant whose wounds would bring healing. And then we find Ezekiel sharing a vision of what God will do with His people. He would make a new covenant with them. He would breathe life into their dead bones. Join us as we explore this amazing reminder of hope in the midst of despair and disci- pline. May we fix our eyes on Jesus and continue to run this race.
